Default Smart battery install

Getting back into the hobby after a long break, updating my old planes with new HH SMART batteries, LiFe. Problem is my old nicads were permanently installed behind the servo bay with wiring to charge them through a connector on the side of the plane. The new receiver pack now has an IC3 connector and balance cable. How do people normally install these? Easily removable to charge off airplane, or get extension cables and put the aircraft near the charger. Problem is I need them in this difficult to access bay for balance purposes and extension cables may be quite long

There's no fire concern with LiFe, so mount them where you want. My preferred charging method is to charge through the balance port. That way I only need 1 extension.
