I have a Cox r/c PT-19 Trainer. Its HUGE! The box is 42"L x 14"W x 5"H. I cannot find this anywhere! A friend asked me to research it for him, and i have spent days. No luck.

Most of them appear to be control line models but I found this photo of the radio control model. From the larger writing on the box ( which I can just make out ) it says it uses the Cox 0.049 engine and a two channel radio. I would suggest this is not going to be much use today for anyone to learn to fly r/c given what is now on the market. I'm guessing this came out in the 60's or 70's but that is just based on the c/l models. I think it unlikely anyone on here will have personal experience of flying one ( but you might get lucky ). Based on what the c/l ones now can go for, and pending the condition of yours and completeness of the contents, you may have an item of fair value to a collector ( if you are thinking of selling ).

I'm not sure what the radio control versions go for but if it is boxed, brand new and complete, that's what the collectors are after. If you check Ebay for current listings, you will probably only see the control line versions but new in box offerings are not cheap !

Thanks. I can only find control line ones by Cox. There are other similar in size by other makers. Thats why i came here, hoping someone would know something about the Cox. It is brand spanking new. Im just stumped.

Definitely a collectors item at this point. These were out just a few years before the end of Cox. They had a Cessna 182 and a Fairchild in the same series but the PT-19 I think were produced in lower numbers. The actual manufacturer was Kyosho as there was a tie between Cox and Kyosho back then, especially with the R/C cars before Kyosho became a Great Planes exclusive brand in North America. I would not be surprised if market value exceeded $500.00

And just to update my original guess of the 60's or 70's, it appears speedracerntrixie is far more on the ball. Your friend's model is probably from 1987 or 1988, based on information on Martin Hepperle's web-site mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/ ( acknowledging the source as he requests on his site ).

The earlier one's were probably all control line models.
