Default First plane

Hi guys
I am new to RC planes I guess my P51 cable bird with Cox 049 does not count I started to take fly lessons at a local club using the instructor`s plane an Avistar but I found a smaller plane a vintage Skylark 40T and also an Avistar
I was thinking in start fliying with my own plane (less responsabilities) using the smaller Skylark since I will suffer less in a crash and let the Avistar for when I feel more confortable flying alone
What do you think any advice will help

I bought a Sport Cub S for training on my own. I started off in Safe mode and programmed a switch on the TX to use all three flight modes available. Only drawback is you need a pretty calm day (it does better with a 250 mah 1s than the 150 more typical 1S). . I hand launch it no issue in Safe mode. For my training at the club I bought a Timber Turbo EVO and flew it with an Instructor last Thursday. Great plane. My next plane will most likely be a UMX Turbo Timber. I also bought Real Flight 9.5 or you can download Real Flight 9.5S. I use the WS2000 dongle to use my TX. I came from U-control as well although that was 50 years ago Lol. I highly recommend joining a local club if you can. Good luck.

How's the wind where you live? Smaller planes are harder to learn in windy conditions.

I was Pretty uncomfortable learning on someone else's plane too but it did help me kinda pay more attention to what I was doing when flying it. If you think you would be more comfortable flying your own --Go for it but I will tell you that a smaller plane won't equal less expense i mean relatively bigger does cost slightly more at times but they all cost you in a crash. Small or big they all hit the ground in the same way, also keep in mind that bigger does fly better( at least I think so) and is easier to see for most
I recently started back up in this hobby after about 20 years and I started out with an electric E flight apprentice good plane to relearn too fly with but I want a little more noise with my flying lol, then I started flying my instructors pieced together telemaster ( what a great plane that thing is ) back in the day I built all my planes so I Purchased a Balsa usa Student Trainer Its more of a building trainer but the plane is a perfect first nitro and I have been more than pleased with the build, haven't covered her yet but im sure it will be a great flyer
Sounds like your learning the hobby the best way possible you will get much farther with lessons such as you are doing. Welcome to the fun and keep us posted of your progress
