Hi,
What do you think about fitting a .28 on an avistar. Engine is mvvs .28 rated at 1.1 hp at 17k rpm. I see many people put .40la on theirs which is 1.0 at 15k rpm (i think, not 100% sure). I also have a mds .40 as an option. Has anybody tried it? Thank you.
regards,
luka

If you're referring to a .28 on a 40 size trsiner, you'll be lucky if it gets off the ground. (I'm betting it won't.)
Don't buy into those "horsepower" ratings posted by the manufacturers. They really don't mean anything becuse they're taken under conditions that are useless in the real world. (Anything over about 11,000 rpm on that mvvs 28 will be beyond the power curve, and only serves to wear out the engine faster.)
If the MDS is your only other option, use it. But those engine choices aren't the greatest either. (MDS has been said to mean 'M'ultiple 'D'ead 'S'ticks.)
Good luck,
Dennis-

Wow, a trainer 40 with a 0.28 engine... good luck! Lets see, if your are very lucky and the plane gets off the ground, it will stall easy when u climb a little! If u dont want to destroy your plane, buy a 0.40 engine, it is very cheap!
