mode one and mode two? on what radio? your jr 631? check in your manual. mode one and mode two can be anything. sense the jr is a computer radio, i would guess FM and PCM. i think every computer radio can switch between the two.

Mode I and Mode II have nothing to do with PCM, PPM, AM or FM. Mode refers to the way the sticks are set up to control diffeent flight functions.
For example, Mode II is usually used and is set up like this;
Right hand stick: Side to Side is Ailerons, Forward and Back is Elevator.
Left hand stick: Side to Side is Rudder, Forward and Back is Throttle.
In Mode I the throttle and Elevator functions switch sticks. (Throttle is now forward and back on the right stick, elevator is on the left.)

So which mode is used in the US. I'm looking at buying some more gear through ebay, but we're opn Mode 1 in Japan, and it's not much good to me if it's mode 2.

Mode 2 is predominant in the US. I know that you can change the Futaba computer radios from mode 2 to 1, but not sure of the other brands. If you do change the mode, you also have to swap the two stick gimbals so that the right side stick that used to be elevator, but is now throttle, has the ratchet action that airplane flyers use. Not necessary for heli pilots.

Thanks. Not much good looking to ebay for a Tx out ofr the US then. I only wanted it for a simulaotr, and already have a cable for JR. Might be best to get a cheapie Tx here (if there is such a thing) with provision for cable.

From: Laurel, MD,
Every radio I've seen has been switchable by swapping a couple of parts and either a software setting or moving a wire connection inside the transmitter. (that's so mixing functions move to the other stick as well). There might be exceptions though.
There are Mode I flyers in the US (even a few on the boards here), but they aren't common, most US gear is Mode II.
(side note, there is also a Mode III (well, sort of). Same as Mode II, but swap the ailerons and rudder, so throttle is on the left with ailerons, and elevator and rudder on the right. But it's extremely rare, but you can use an unmodificed Mode II TX that way).
