Hey,
I have been flyng my LT 40 with an evo .46 NT with the three bladed trainer prop.
What size prop would be recommended after I am comfortable with this prop, which I am.
I ws at work last night and read a thread on here that told all about props. I didn't want to log my name in to respond (for obvious reasons) now I can not find that thread.
From what I retained from the threed, larger diameter is more thrust and large pitch is faster.
If anyone could shed some more light and recommend a second prop I would greatly appreciated.

Nah not to big but I think the 10 will turn up more RPM.. I ran a 10x6 APC on mine and she screamed...like a whole different engine. Actaully too fast....aileron flutter cost me the plane.

My Feedback: (23)
For something like the LT 40 I would go with less pitch and keep the diameter up.You well have better thrust and lets face it a LT40 is not designed for max speed.Try a 11x5 APC or a 11.5x 5 Bolly clubman. It well still be fast but it well also jump into the air on takeoff and vertical way better.Vertical performance well far exceed a 10-6 or 10-7.Just my 2 cents.Dennis

What exactly is aileron flutter? Is that when you go so fast the ailerons started being knocked around by the air? if so, why can't you recover when it slows down?
Just wondering,
Wings,

11X6 APC or JZ Zinger for that plane. Usually flutter happens so fast, that the part shed, if you are real lucky, you can get the plane slowed down before something comes off, not usually.
Jetts
Good engine BTW.

Hi Wings. I fly an ultrastick (obviously
) with the same engine and after using this engine on an Alpha trainer, I put an 11-7 on the thing and it really woke it up! The 3 bladed prop is fine for learning because it flies slow, but youll see a big difference in performance when you go to an 11-7. My stick can pull very nice verticals at half throttle using the 11-7 with plenty of power to spare. I might add that this is a stock engine with a muffler on 15% fuel. I flew the alpha with this prop for short time then went to the stick and the engine flies both planes very well with this prop. Good luck with your flying.

Lots of good choices mentioned above. Don't be afraid to try things. You won't hurt anything unless you get silly.
As for aileron flutter, I've flown in to it, and mananged to slow down with no problems. I've also had the flutter start suddenly and imeditally strip the aileron servo gears. That was a fun landing, since it was on a combat plane that has no rudder. I've also seen flutter quickly cause the control surface to part company with the rest of the plane. When it's the elevator, the results are predictably dramatic.

Thanks for all the great info guys.
I tried several last weekend. I think I liked the 10 x 6 the most. I liked how the engine screamed and it had more then enough power for me. I was completely amazed on take off. Usually it takes quite a distance before lift off, then I have to baby it to keep it from stalling till I get up (with the evo prop). With the 10 x 6 the thing went about 10 to 15 feet and practically went screaming staight up with no problem. I was very pleased..
I bought an 11x6 and I am going to try it next weekend (weather permitting)
Will the 11 x 6 have more thrust and more speed than the 10 x 6?
