I suppose there's no technical limit to scale. Just the AMA's 55lb/100lb certified limit. Check the Giant-Scale forum for big planes.

1 to 1 is full scale. I am building one. They are way huge, way expensive, but a lot of fun.

Don't forget teh tests [fuel tank rupturing / crash laninds] perfomed using a 737 (or was it an L1011) some big typical passenger plane.. that's full scale!

The largest scale plane I have seen (on tape) was a 110%... yup, the model was 10% larger than the full scale. I can't remember the planes name, but I think it is called a dragonfly? Full scale is an expermental single seat mid/low wing that uses two chainsaw type motors on pods mounted on either side of the fuse out front. The model was flown in France? at a giant scale fly in... Since the AMA is not in France, many of these models did not adhere to the AMA weight limits. Maybe someone else has seen the same tape I'm thinking about and can elaborate.

Fuel atomizing test was with a 707!! They were trying a new additive that was supposed to gel it and keep it from atomizing until heated. It didn't work.

A little off subject,sorry.

I saw this at a flight museum in Kansas. It's a home built VW powered bipe. It's full scale I guess since it's not remote controlled.
I have seen bigger RC stuff. Wouldn't it be great to convert it to RC?!?!?!?!?
David

PS If you never seen a Corsair in person. It's hard to believe how big one is. I'm 6'0".

Ya know, I looked for awhile on the web and I cannot find a picture of the 110% (1.1:1) RC plane I saw. I did figure out I had the name wrong, it is not a dragonfly, it is a MC15 Cricket. Considering the model was bigger than the full scale I gotta belive this one is in the running for largest scale. Pic of a full scale.
