Doesnt the firewall already have one big hole in the center towerds the top?
No. The 4 Star 40 comes with the firewall undrilled.

Depending upon the chosen tank and venting the most common options on the 4 Star 40 are individual holes for each feed line through the firewall or a single larger hole made with a holesaw. As best I recall the the plan depicts an 8oz Sullivan slant single vent setup with both lines protruding through small holes in the fueselage. The latter works well, and when snugly fit prevents the ingress of fuel residue into the fuselage. The instruction manual is pretty scant on information about Four Star fuel tank setup. For flyers haven't either fitted a fuel tank before or perhaps only one such as a "follow the bouncing ball type" fitment like the LT-40's, its best to refer to the information provided in the accompanying "SIG Basics of R/C" booklet which has some good info on fuel tank selection, venting types, mounting and fuel levels etc.

I like that analogy [sm=lol.gif]. I loved my LT-40. Instructions were great!

Thanks for the info guys. I realized that drlling a hole, or holes was the only option. It just makes me feel better to have it confirmed.

I appreciate it.

One more question.... It says that oblong oval of a hole on the very front piece on the bottom is for maybe a different way to vent the tank or for draining the oil. I left mine solid. Anyone mind explaining to be the purpose of that hole?

Thanks a lot.

The oblong hole is for venting the breather line of a four stroke for which the Four Star 40 design was originally intended. It's redundant when you fit a two stroke.

I am running a 2C engine in mine and I find that oblong hole useful when I accidentally drop a nut or bolt into the engine compartment. It just drops down through the hole

hehehe.

Well, actually have not gotten alot done with it; we have finished the rough outline of the right wing (Spars, ribs, and the balsa spacers). Papa (my grandfather and I) build together, and even though he only lives three houses away, due to buzy schedules, that is sometimes hard

I do not have pictures, as my harddrive crashed, and I have not recovered them, but I am going over there to work on it tomorrow, and I will get some pictures, and post them tomorrow afternoon.

btw, I like your pictures!

At long last I have a two pictures...

Here is one of the four star wings, and I am hoping there will be more, though the tech problems I have been having of late are unbelievable!

The resolution is not that great, but if you save either of them to your desktop, and open them their, the resolution is great.

Look like a perfect set of wings to me, I can't wait to see them covered.
