Hey All,
Just trying to find out if anyone out there is using the Evolution .46NT. I'm currently using the Power Trainer System on my Kadet, and I love the engine. But, for my next plane, I'm gonna do the World Models T-34, and I want to make sure I've got plenty of power for it. So, I'm still looking at the .46 size range, but I'm kinda torn between going with the Evo .46NT or the OS .46FX. On a RPM comparison, the OS has about 5000 more RPMs in the high end, which I guess would mean more power. But, I'm really impressed with my Evo .455 (the trainer system) both for power and ease of use. So, is anyone using the Evo .46NT? If so, let me know how you like it! And as far as the OS goes...I know there's tons of guys out there that swear by it...my hesitation is that I'm pretty stupid when it comes to tuning...I'm sure I could learn. But the Evo is SOOO easy to deal with...I want to spend my time flying, not tuning. If the break in for the OS is a easy venture, and tuning is the same, then I'm might go for the extra power. Someone help me decide! - Spool

i've never used the engines.........but i have helped with the OS .46 and i have a .91FX.......there great all you have to do is tune the high end and run one tanks on rich.......fly about 5 tanks on rich then just stick it a few clicks off top and yer good to go its very easy to use...........i doubt it has 5000 RPM of the evo but it might have 500.......if you want more power get the tower hobbies muffler with it.......thants worth 300 more rpm.

I've got an Evo .46TPS on my trainer, and it does have the power, especially with a 2 blade prop and no flywheel. My 2nd plane is an Ultra Stick 40, and I didn't really want to do a .46 on it because I wanted all the power I could get cheaply. The best might have been a Saito .72, but those are big bucks. I opted for the Irvine .53.. It's supposed to have as much power as an MDS .58, but be more reliable. It fits in the 3 .40 size engine mounts I have just fine. Lots of power for $125.. - Joe

Compare the Tower Hobbies .46 BB to the others and don't forget the 'bang for the buck' aspect. A BB .46 will perform better in the WM T-34 than a bushing engine and the Tower engine is lower priced than the OS with quite good performance and life. I've run WM T-34s with both a Tower .46, a Saito .56 4-stroke and an OS .46 LA. W-A-Y diferent with more power.

I can't say anything about the Evo or the Magnum. But I can tell you that you can never go wrong with an O.S. engine. I have a bunch of them and every one of them runs like a swiss watch.
You might check out Fox engines too. I've owned several of them and they all ran well.

A good friend of mine has one of the world/airborne T-34's. He flew it all last year and most of this year with a very old OS46FX. The FX lost power[pealing liner] so he got a good deal on one of those EVO 46's and installed it on the T-34 and it has more power than the worn out FX. It sort of surprised us as it was the "trainer" model. It definitely appears to be a runner.
I have several of the FX's and I don't believe that you could go wrong with either one. I also have had nothing but good luck with the Thunder Tiger 46's.
