Default what's the diff between a radio and transmitter?

All this time reading, I thought they were the same, interchangeable words.

Radio is kind of all-encompassing meaning the transmitter, flight pack, all the servos, etc. But it pretty much means whatever you want it to mean. Some people say radio meaning just the transmitter.

We're starting a movement here in the Beginner's forum to make all words mean everything so that no matter what you say, you'll be right.

well, the reason for asking is, I plan on getting the nextstar, and it says.....

Radio: Futaba 4 channel system pre-installed
Transmitter: Futaba SkySport 4YBF
Receiver: Pre-installed Futaba 4ch RX with built in "AFS"
Servos: 4 Pre-installed Futaba Servos (aileron, elevator, rudder, throttle)

btw, cant find any info on the 4ybf on fatuba's site.

Basically you're getting one radio system. They're just telling you what model transmitter comes with it.

Man... Dennis, dude, you are soooo right. Sorry about gettin' all tech on you like that RichD man dude.

So a radio is like this stuff for controlling your plane, man. It's a bunch of gizmos and batteries and, like, stuff to turn it on and off. That transmitter is the bomb, dogg. That's the thing that actually talks to your plane and then, you know, it's so cool cuz your plane, like, knows what it's saying to it and then it gets funky with moves like cool flips and climbing, inverted (that's like flying upside down... phat!) flat spins, dude! Awesome!

The transmitter is that box that you wiggle the sticks on to fly your plane, and the radio is what you listen to in your car on the way to the field

a radio is something you turn on to listen to music. [sm=lol.gif]
