I just finished a WM Ramber 30 and it is a beautiful plane. I had put some additional covering on to make it stand out more (many Ramblers at the field) and it nearly cost me the plane!!!
I have read in other posts that the film tears off and the plane is impossible to control. This is exactly what happened. One of the cheap covering I had put on (not original) tore off and was flapping in the wind. I didn't know what was going on but my plane was rolling so much I almost put into a fence. Luckly, I was able to control her to a safe but nerve racking landing.
Upon inspection the covering had a square torn off the leading edge and the rest was flapping loosely causing the plane to roll wildly.
Lesson? MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Otherwise don't do it. Of course, I have the decorative stripes back on but this time with CA and additional adhesive tape.
DON'T LOSE A PLANE BECAUSE YOU'RE VAIN. And, always let your local expert take a look at it before you fly.
