You can get G2 lite for $99 at hobbytown... That's only half a plane

I started the exact same way a few years ago, and it was great. But let me offer some advice. After you start playing with it initially and get a basic feel for it, start taking it seriously if you plan on getting a real plane in the spring. You use G2 to develop habits and muscle memory with your reactions. You want to make sure you don't develop any BAD ones in the absense of a good flight instructor. Think about spending just a little more and pick up a book or two on R/C flying and get yourself versed on aerodynamic principles, proper flying procedures, landing patterns, etc.

After a while, fly the sim as if you have a real plane that you don't want to crash, or run into the pit area. You may have already done these things, but just in case you didn't...doing some extra homework will really make this winter pay off for you. In my case, the instructors at our club turned me loose to solo after three flights! It does work, but do what you can to make the practice worthwhile. There are plenty of instructors that know how to write. Learn from them at the same time and you'll have a blast in the spring!
