Ok, I have been flying a simple Firebird for a couple of weeks and just moved up (sideways?) to a Leonardo. Since these are both park flyers it probably comes as no surprise that I have been hanging around the local park lately. This is something I have not done very much of, if at all in the past. Without a doubt every time I go there are one or two unsavory characters hanging around watching my every move, or so it seems. Yesterday there was a guy inside the bathroom peeping out the door watching me and every time I would look over at him he would duck back inside. I packed up all my gear and went directly home and took a bath. Ok, I didn't really take a bath but I felt like it. I think I am gonna switch to the jr. high football field which is not being used this time of year.

Wow.
I fly at a park that has no bathrooms and I'm glad of it now.
My local club allows park flyers at their field (AMA membership and club membership required). You may want to inquire about local flying clubs in your area. It's worth it just to be in the company of a group with shared interests. None of which include hanging around bathrooms I hope.

I joined a local club about three years ago. The learning experience did not go so well for a number of reasons none of which really had to do with the club or my fit with the members. I decided to hang up my Eagle 2 which is still in the closet. Recently I have had the urge to get back to it so I decided to go the electric park flyer/with help from a good model flight simulator. When I have developed more skills I will take a trip out to the field and see if I can revive the old membership. If they want me back then the Eagle 2 gets a parole for good behavior. For the time being I am perfectly happy with flying my foamies around the baseball diamond at 7 am in the morning. Do ya think that guy in the bathroom wants to learn to fly? Naaaaaah, I think he is looking for a different kind of stick time!

just walk over to them and ask them what their problem is. it seems a bit strange that he peeps through the crack in the door and ducks when you look at him. don't be scared of him, it looks like he is scared of you.
