iv seen some videos of people flying in there back yard or sometimes in the streets is this normal im pretty sure i cant do that here. i live in the suburbs surrounded by people... i wouldnt even think about flyin in the streets theres about 8 kids on this street...

A lot of the newbies think they can do it, and the park flyers as easy as they are to get are going to be crashed in the neigborhoods, but I wouldn't think about flying a nitro plane there. Many of the younger flyers do it and get lucky, but the first time there is an accident, you won't have the money to pay for it when no insurance will touch it. Better off flying at a flying field where it is set up and and there is room to fly and land. Why push it and chance someone getting hurt or killed by a plane that got away.

Not to mention the fact that you cant see the plane over the houses. If you don't join a club at least find a farm or something where there is nobody around.

If you did want to fly in the back yard, here is the plane to do it.

Well if you did knock it out of hte sky, you could just pick it up and toss it back into the sky. It is nearly indestructable.

In general... back yards are really too small for flying. You really need a small park for the "back yard" airplanes.

There are a few that you can keep in a 20X 20 area, but most that can stay in that small a space can't handle ANY wind, and are best off flown indoors. Finding an indoor site can be interesting... If you are single you probably don't have a place large enough. If you are married, your "better half" will often get upset by being buzzed in the kitchen. If you are a kid... Mom is NOT going to like you flying it in the living room.

This statement does not apply to the IFO, as you can see in the videos

I have to cry a little here.
I used to have a great backyard flying area.
I live in the stix with acres and acres of CRP fields.
My wife and I decided swimming was more important than landing.
Now my runway is beside a row of trees and is only about 30' X 100'
Great for takeoff/ sucks for landing.

I have seen an IFO... have seen it attempted to be flown outdoors... In light wind it wouldn't stay within 20X20 if you kept the nose traight into the wind... it would be flying backward. Indoors it would be a great plane. (local HS Gym if they would let you fly there)

wouldnt u worry about someone flipping on a reciever or soemthing because around here there are lots of rc cars and trucks and the signal would get messed up wouldnt it[&:]

RC Cars and trucks are on 75 MHZ or 27 mhz. RC airplanes are on 72 mhz or 27 mhz. In the case of hte IFO, you would be on 72 mhz.

I don't know about you but I would rather see a kid or person get caught tresspassing on a field or a farm to fly than killing the nosy neighborhood kids. And yes my mom will nt let me fly my .91 sized airplane in the living room He He
she caught me trying to land my humming bird rc helicopter on her stomach when she was asleep
so I can't fly that one near her
but i can't blame her

A good thread to read is in the crashes and pix section of the airplanes forum
it is titled " a man was killed by an rc helicopter" I think or it is pretty close to the title

it has stories of people getting decapitated by helicopters
hit in the chest and head by rc airplanes

so even at the field they are deadly in the wron hands

so don't do stuped stuff

and watch your fingers by them props
have fun but not by putting someone in danger.
like flying in your street.
