Default question for those with a NEXstar

How much do the air brakes (white lower flaps with holes) slow down you plane... I flew today with them on, in about 3 mph winds 0 gusts, and the plane seemed like it struggled alot to go....ALOT! at time it looked like it was hoovering.

Pleae give me your take!?! thanks

Yes, if the engine isn't putting out some good rpm's it will struggle. I'm happy with the way mine flys - WITH the speed brakes. I took them off and it flys too fast!

I'm an instructor working with a student who has a Nexstar. I find it somewhat like driving a car with the brakes on. But overall, I think its OK for people learning. Once you feel that it is too slow for your skill level, take the airbrakes off. Otherwise, leave them on while learning. Also, be sure to use the 11 x 5 prop that comes with the Nexstar. The more common 10 x 6 prop does not have quite as much thrust, which is really needed with this plane.

Hoovering?? Does a nexstar hoover, how does it do on carpet

I took my extensions and brakes off. Flys better and a touch faster, not much. Still slows down for landings.

I wish I could get my Nexstar to hover!!!! You must have the 3D model.

I dont have any problems with mine. If you mean when you are first taking off it seems slow then i guess it does until the climb to desired altitude. Speed brakes dont allow it to accelerate quickly. Once your at level flight it moves along nicely. Remember this is a trainer not a sport plane, its not designed to do 0-60 in 2 seconds.
