Default Simulator for Futaba 4VF

I purchased FMS 2.0 simulator including the serial 6 pin connector. My radio is a Futaba T4VF (Skysport 4). When flying in FMS I run out of graphics and fly in a white space. Looks to me like the square you have in SIM City, except you go beyond it. Question now is: Is that normal, or can I actually change a setting so that I have sky and land at all times?

I also tried Pre-Flight, however, I cannot calibrate my radio. Guess its due to the serial connection. I asume I need to USB port connection with it. Correct? Perhaps there's an older version out there that'll work on my serial port (COM 1 or 2)?

Lastly I installed YSFlight 2000, but that one won't work with my radio. [:@]

Needless to say, I am getting frustrated. I would like to practice on a simulator before I go out and crash my new plane (Avistar). Any suggestion on making any of these work with my radio? Or perhaps on how to set FMS so that it will not run out of scenery?

Thanks Guys.
Stefan

Check the FMS homepage. They have some frequently asked questions there.

It sounds to me like your PC is adequate. I recently upgraded my pc and now am using a USB cable. I remember having a tough time setting up a serial cable. I bought it from a man in Colorado. His website was: http://www.milehighwings.com/

Maybe you could look at his site, or email him and see if he still has instructions for setting up a serial port cable. His site does show how to set up a usb cable at: http://www.milehighwings.com/manual_usb.htm

Here is another link with setup and instructions for your cable. I bought my USB cable from this person.

http://www.tti-us.com/sim/

I will look around and see if I still have the instructions for setting up the Serial Cable.

Hm, I assume you are refering to Pre-Flight, right? I'll check out that website.

How about FMS? Is it normal just to have one square of graphics on it?

I have been all over TTI. That's where I bought my cable too. Had problems under XP and was forced to go back to WIN98. Spend an hour on the phone with Tom.

Anyhow, thanks for helping out. FMS isn't bad, if it weren't for running out of graphics.

Not sure about FMS but Real Flight, which is considered the best RC sim on the market, only has a single "dome" of graphics. If you fly too far in any direction (except the ground ) you fly into white space. I'm guessing it's true of FMS as well.

No, I am talking about FMS. Did you check the options under your graphics menu. Mine has a check by Smooth Textures and Textures and I am using 32 bit colors.

which version of fms are you using and are you in chase view with the plane??
if you are in chase view yes you can run out of graphics..but in the newest version of FMS which is 8.1 you can't get to far from the plane and radio or it will crash just like radio out of range...new version is alot more realistic..but has le planes available at the moment..
I made a few models for the older FMS version and now on a quest to figure out the par file to the new version so I can start getting more of my trainner type planes working in it.

Well, to get going for the moment I purchased the MS Flight Sim2002 (for $10) and a LogiTech Dual Action pad. I programmed the 2 sticks the same way I have it on my radio. I guess that'll do until I find something better. Thank you all for your help.
