ok is there something that will disolve thin ca i make a mistake when putting the te on my wing it is a pt-40 and i put the angled side of the te toward the bottom of the wing instead of the top like i was supposed to so i am imagning that when i put the aerilons on they wont line up right also if i leave this the way it is will it effect the flying characteristics of the plane.
if i leave this the wrong way could i shave the top of the te to match the aerilons

there is CA debonder, sold at most hobby shops..

Might be just as simple to take a SHARP X-acto knife and cut it free. (or a razor saw...) You'll probably need to buy a piece of wood at the local hobby shop (or hobby lobby) to replace what you cut off. (about $1 to $1.50 and you will have a LOT left over.)

The problem is not super serious... you could also take wood and fill the bottom and then reshape the top. It will work just fine.

The small section of wood between the ailerons is not critical. Most of it is over the fuselage... and what you have done would just leave a gap under the trailing edge when you rubber band the wing on. Eventually the rubber bands would snap this raised part off. (and that's really the worst effect it will have)

the ailerons being in the correct postion would look a little funny (drooped vs that misaligned piece...) but the thing would fly just fine.

My choice would be to just fill the inderside to be level with the bottom of the wing ribs, then sand down the top.

ok if i use the debond will it soak into the wing ribs and when i go to reglue things back together will it reactivate and keep the glue from sticking again

After I use our lhs's version of Debonder (Rider's Hobby; Un-Glue) I got a piece out of the wrong place. I set it in the right place and went to have lunch as I did not want to glue it back in place. When I cam back, I was glad that I had set it in the right place, as the glue had rebonded and it was as hard as it had been before I got it free [X(]

Really.. the easier method is what I recommended. the lamination jont of the fill material will actually make the TE section involved STRONGER.

I only use debonder if I absolutely HAVE to. (Like when I glue my fingers together. )

Go with FHHuber's idea on adding wood to the bottom, reshape the top.

Oh yeah? Well I managed to glue the tip of my tongue to my upper lip last year... now that's embarrassing.

And, no, the debonder will not prevent future CA from kicking off again. However, all of the debonder needs to evaporate first. But from what you have described, I'd suggest going along with FHHubers suggestion of filler/sanding, But instead of filler I'd glue an oversized scrap piece of wood to the concave or low area, then sand back.

Fingernail polish remover works great! The 100% acetone is the best if you can find it - the non-acetone stuff is actually ethyl acetate and doesn't work too well. Acetone is pretty volitile so it will evaporate and you will have no problem regluing things. I've never used debonder, but I have studied the chemistry of CN glues quite a bit - acetone is the way to go (unless you can get your hands on some methylene chloride - I'm a chemist!)

you want embaressing try glueing the palm of your hand to your fuse side and having to go to wal mart to get fingernail polish remover at midnight [:@]

i would like to thank everyone for the responses i have gotten i went the debonder and e xacto knife route it worked really well took about 20 min to get it apart i glued the right part back in and everything went very well as far as the debonder goes i let it dry for 24 hours and the next time i glued it back in it held great

Skip debonder it's useless compared too nitro! Even aceton is better...but do use nitro..it's best!

the debonder i use (i dunno, says hobbytown brand) smells strongly like acetone and the package says it contains nitromethane. great stuff, especially for getting sebast silvestri stickers off my funtana....oh yeah, and ungluing my finger from the covering after i CA'ed the hinges. Its good to get some debonder anyways, its also great for cleaning up CA that dribbled down the fuse or whatever.
For the prob you have, go with FHHuber suggestion on filling and shaping..more strength=good
