I am looking for a budget engine for my WM T-34 Mentor 40 size and I have available at practically same price both Evolution 46 and a SuperTigre G51.
Which do you guys think is more suitable for the plane?

Well, it really depends what you want to do with the plane! I'm building a WM T-34 too, but I'm putting an Irvine 53 in it, which I know will over power it, but I'm also using a three bladed, larger prop for better scale looks, so that extra power will come in handy. As far as flying goes, are you looking to just do laps in the landing pattern, or are you looking to get a little crazy with it? If you want the extra power, I guess I'd say for for the G51, but I would bet that the Evo isn't far behind in power, and as far as value goes, my first engine was the Evo trainer power system, which is basically a 46, and this engine is awesome. So easy, no fuss, and even after I lost my first plane due to an unfortunate trainer incident, which resulted in the plane impacting the runway nose down, nose first (ouch) once I found the little Evo, cleaned it up and replaced the broken remote needle valve bracket, it still runs great and I have it on my new Kyosho Calmato. So, my sentimental favorite would be the Evo, especially since these little T-34's are pretty small and that 46NT will give it plenty of pull...a lot of people are using OS 46FX's on these planes, and say that it's all you need, and the Evo 46NT will be a very close match to the OS, at a much better price. That's my two cents...

From: Laurel, MD,
If you have limited time with engines, I'd say go with the Evo. STs are generally good engines, but they do seem to be a bit harder to tune right, espeically when new. If you go with the ST, and you have running problems, try leaning it out. Twice I've "fixed" STs at my field by just leaning them out. For whatever reason, these engines didn't act like others when run rich, they just got funky instead of running in a slobbering rich 4-stroke mode.

Hi i built the WM T-34 about 4 months ago and have approximately 40 flights on it. I used a New Rossi 40 and it moves!!!!! It was clocked at 102mph consistantly on level flight at the club field. I wouldnt recomend anything much bigger than that. My flying partner used a towers 46 but I can outrun him every time. Actually the wing is starting to stress in the wing saddles and developing a deep groove from the stress of the speed. I was really surprised at the speed ....almost as fast as my patriot. It is a very light plane and comes very well constructed and is a superb plane. I am purchaseing another one when this one meets its end and glass the wing area where it sits in the saddle. Very, very accrobatic. Since it is small it just isnt quite up to flying it at scale speed. But for fun you cant beat it !!!
PS. MVVS makes just about the same engine as the rossi 40 for about $130. I have 2 of them and will always buy the MVVS instead of the rossi's just because they are almost identical and cost 1/2 as much.

Skribnod,
Nice plane!
I don't have those 2 brands you mention available here, however if I get you right the the EVO 46 is more than enough to move this plane and won't need the extra power of the ST G51.
I might need to say that I actually hate the big & ugly muffler the STs have. So I guess I am moving now toward the EVO.
