Default Servo Problem

Hello All,

I have a couple of Futaba 9402 servos which I had laying around and I wanted to use them in my next plane. I hooked them up to my receiver with nothing connected to them but they were making a ticking noise. I plugged in one of my other servos and it was silent. I don't want to use a servo that could fail. Do you think that this is a bad servo?

Thanks.

Did the ticking noise happen when you move the servo?
It could be in the gear train.

Did you have fully charged batteries? I was reading something similar on the Futaba web site, and they mentioned that when you first turn on fully charged batteries with some ball bearing servos, the start of the discharge can make them buzz and hum, but ticking, nothing specific. Check out the FAQ section, has a lot of good info. www.futaba-rc.com .
