Best Prop for Super Sportster
I just finished a Super Sportster 40 kit and powering it with an Evolution .46. This is my 5th plane, Alpha Trainer (deceased), Big Stik Stik 60 (RIP) Dazzler (still flying), WM P47 (still flying). Flat out speed isn't my "thing." I've heard the Sportster is pretty rapid. I haven't flown mine yet due to windy weather. I'm running a 12.25x3.75 APC on an OS .46 AX on the Dazzler and I like the way it flies. How will that do on the Sportster? Suggestions appreciated.

RE: Best Prop for Super Sportster
The Super Sportster has a higher top speed than the Dazzler. In order for you to be able to fly it faster... you will need a shorter higher pitch prop.
However, if you want to do the 3D flying stuff... you will want to keep the 12.25X3.75. It really depends on how you want to fly the model. Continuing to use this prop would not be a problem... it would just limit you from exploring some portions of the aircraft's "flight envelope."
*I* would stick a 11X6 or 11X5 on it. That would give some more airspeed for some for the larger more "pattern style" loops and fly it more in line with that style than 3D.
Some people my say go with a 10X7... which will fly it fine. But just not the way I would want to fly it.

RE: Best Prop for Super Sportster
12X6 is a bit heavy for a .46. I use that on a bushing type .61.
Go ahead and try the 11X5, since you have it. It should do OK. Compare that to the results with the 12.25X3.75 (which is very close to a 12X4... Might try that too if you have one) Since these are props you already have... there is no reason not to try and see which you prefer.
Note that you will be able to sustain a steeper climb angle with the 12.25X3.75 than with the 11X5... so be prepared for a shallower climb with the shorter higher pitch prop. (if you use a 11X6 it will need an even shallower climb while you get used to the difference)

I've had a Super Sportster 40 with an OS 46SF for power since 1988...
I've tried about all the different prop sizes suitable for that engine, and the 11x6 is my favorite for it. Good all around performance. If you want to go a little faster, use the 10x7... but for just everyday flying, I don't think you can beat the 11x6.
Keep in mind though, I don't have any experience with the evolution engines... so I don't know what kind of power they put out compared to the OS.

Good recommendations.
I fly mine with a 54 four stroke and a 12 X 5 prop. Not a lot of speed but ery good vertical.
I agree with FH, try the 11 X 5 that you have, if you're happy with the speed I'd get a 12 X 5 which will give the same speed (or nearly) with a bit more vertical.

RE: Best Prop for Super Sportster
I've been flying my SS ARF with a OS .46SF and a Zinger 11x5 prop for about a year now. It's the best combination I've tried so far. I want to try a 12x4 and see how it slows down to land. This plane will land a little hot with a higher-pitched prop, and my best landing was when it dead-sticked, because the fuel tank stopper came apart in flight. I'm hoping the 12x4 prop will let it land that slow and easy.

I fly mine with an Irvine 46 using a 11x7 prop. The speed is awesome and it will do most anything at half throttle. The landings are hot but I think this is more a characteristic of the plane anyway.
I had thought about using a lower pitch prop like an 11 x 4 to see how the plane would react. Maybe I might just try it now. Will keep you posted just as soon as I can get some flying time once the winds have died down.

I can set my SS down slow enough so that the roll out is no more than 20 feet, so they WILL slow down. If your Irvine 46 is turning an 11 X 7 and you want to try a smaller pitch prop, go up in diameter too or you may put too much stress on the engine.
I'd suggest at least a 12 X 4, if not a 13 X 4.

i had a 46fx in mine with a macs tuned pipe. I used an 11x6 or 11x5, cant remember exactly but it was one of those 2. Mine did atleast 90MPH flat out and i am suprised the wings did not rip off in one of my terminal velocity power dives. Seal the hinge lines with clear tape or something at it will never flutter with stock hardware and standard servos.
