How do you clean your plane

I use windshield washer fluid with a good squirt of dishwashing soap added. The soap helps cut the grease. Works well for me and washer fluid is about a dollar a gallon.[8D]
Remember to bring paper towels with you to the field.

I start by wiping off all of the runny goo with a dry paper towel at the end of each flight. While I take it apart at the end of the day, I wipe it with de-natured ethanol. It is available at building supply stores, cost less than 90% isopropyl alcohol, and works better than isopropinol[8D]

Generic baby wipes work very well at cleaning off the oily residue. (Much better than window cleaner.) I can do the whole plane after a full day of flying with one wipe.
They do leave a bit of a film behind, but if it bothers you, a quick wip with Windex shines it up.

I use windex and paper towels.
I clean my engine with windex and toothbrush. They suggest it in and article about engines in Model Airplane News. Never had problems with it.

I spray my plane with 'Mr Muscle'. I then pack up my stuff leaving the Mr Muscle to cut in to the oil etc (I used castor based fuel). I go back to my plane and give it a wipe and all the stuff just comes off! Not sure what the long term effects of using Mr. Muscle will be though..

The really only reason that I stoped using the paper towels was because they made min ute scratches in the covering....and have found that baby wipes (the one that I had were dried up; stayed in car forever) don't do anything but get the grime off a little bit.....I have to use about 4 for the whole plane to get clean...for some reason, my engine causes more oil on the wing than most other planes.......

Aerosols are very bad for the environment.

That's good to know... now I need to go buy some of that aerosol cleaning stuff and spray it near the next clueless environmentalist that tries to intefere with my hobby.

I just use Paper Towel and no spray on cleaners. Just use one paper towel to wipe off oil then another to complete the job over the whole plane. Then once a year....I use windex and Isopropyl Alcohol and give it a good scrub. HEY....works wonders on my car too once a year.

Well I am a new member but i have been flying for 2 years and i find that !QUOT!Spray Nine!QUOT! and !QUOT!Windex!QUOT! works the best for me. !QUOT!Spray Nine is a basic house hold cleaner and windex is simple. Apply it with a spray bottle and wipe off with Paper Towel.
