What can you fly with a 2 CH radio?
Someone gave me a R/C setup. It is 2 channel but on 72mhz.
I can't imagine what you could fly with only 2 channels except for a V tail sailplane perhaps.
Anyone know of a kit or something that uses 2 channels?
TIA.

I guess you could build a Firebird setup... one ch for throttle (which indirectly controls climb) and one ch for rudder.
Also you can fly rudder and elevator (as above mentioned) until fuel runs out.

Many of the early planes were throttle and elevator. Trimed so it would do a long flat glide at idle. Full throttle would be a shallow climb. They could be set up to loop and roll. Put it into a spiral dive to build up speed. If you were going fast enough, and you pulled out with the wings level it would do a decent loop. If you gave it rudder when it pulled out of the dive, it would do a decent roll, but only one. A lot of timing involved. A lost art. Hal Debolt where are you? You can explain it better than I. After all it was your Trainer that I learned how to do it on.

Lots of stuff to fly on 2 channels! elevator/rudder, elevator/ailerons, rudder/throttle (not recommended for beginners). Just fly!

I have a 6 ch Rx that I fly a 3 servo plane on this morning, but I only use the throttle to start the engine so its not at full power (its 1/2a) so you fly full throttle and only use rudder elevator until it runs out of fuel,, then you deadstick it in every flight...Rog

Build a glider! Did you get servos to? That Dynaflight Bobcat looks super cool.. Get a big high start, those are so neat. When I finally get a glider bet there's guys at my club that have never seen a high start in action.

I once had a GLH, a swept wing 1/2A plane, flew it with a Norvel .61 (no throttle control - start it, wide open, hand launch.) This plane had ailerons and elevator control only, and it was a wild ride. I finally got used to it, and could bring it in, deadstick, so I didn't have to walk far to retrieve it. What a blast! Wish I had another, sometimes.
Anybody know of something like that available now?
Good luck,

Dave,
I had one of those, powered by a Cox TD .49. What a blast, like the name says GLH!
I've made a few "look-alikes" using simple balsa box, and some Ace foam wing sections.

First off you should check to see if the radio is legal.. you only said 72mh.. it could be a older wide band radio. As for 2 channel you really only have two choices rudder+elevator or aileron+elevator. I wouldn`t even think of rudder and throttle. Any plane that has enough dihedral in the wing can be flown rudder and elevator, without much if any dihedral you will have to go aileron and elevator. If you are into simple scratch building I would suggest getting plans for the Half A Joystick from RCM. Otherwise, look at a 15 size high wing type. My 1/2a skylane flew great on 2 channels and a men .09. Coosbay lumber has several repro kits of the older type planes that would work great with a .049 to .10 motor.
