I have an old(early 90's) Futaba rx that is on channel 26(Low Band Channel). I no longer have the tx for it.

I am now using a similar Futaba rx but on a high band channel of 36. Can I buy another channel 36 crystal and put it in my old receiver even though one rx is high band and the other is low band? Or does the high band/low band only refer to the crytals and not the rx?

Why buy a whole new setup for a second plane when I have all the servos and rx? I can use the same tx for both my planes.

Welcome to RCU.

Sorry to say, but you can not swap crystals between high and low band. You'll need a new receiver.

Well he doesn't really need a new reciever can't he just send that one to Futaba and get it retuned?

Sell the low and buy a high....hmm same advice my stock broker gave me.....

Hang onto the low band RX... you'll probably get a new radio later and might be able to use it. (or trade it with someone at a swap meet... Selling them you don't get enough to bother.)

There is a significant range reduction and increased chance of RF interference when you stick a high band crystal in a low band RX. It would work... but it would be a bad idea to do it.
