Good 3-D plane for OS70
I have an OS70 that I would like to get a 3-D Plane for. The problem all the recommendations seem to push larger engines in the 40-46 size planes. I don't want to end up with a "weak" plane. Any Suggestions on a good plane. The OS70 is said to be heavy.

Sig Somthin Extra or one of the Morris Hobbies profile planes. There is a lot of info in the 3-D section here. Give it a try you may find somting neat in there.

RE: Good 3-D plane for OS70
Great info. above-
The first thing I thought was Morris Topcap, because we have one at our field that flies beautifully! Plenty of power---
The Somethin' Extra is NOT a 3D plane-
What skill level are you? I assume relatively new due to the forum we are in?
The profiles are much easier to 3D than a Funtana or UCD-46....
For <$100 Hot Knife
For $150 Morris Topcap
For kits, any OMP profile kit

Razor-RCU
I have been flying for about 1.5 yrs. Good general flyer but no expert. Started on my LT-40 w/OS46FX, fly a Lazy P-51 W/OS25MAX, Four Star 60 w/Saito91, Zaggy elec., TigerII W/OS46FX, also have an trainer with an LA40 never flown since loved the others more. I purchased the OS70 NIB and think a 3-D would be fun to try. But all the 3-Ds I read about have oversized engines installed.

If you get a profile like the Hot-Knife or Morris Topcap, your OS-70 WILL be overpowering the airplane! It sounds like you have pretty good experience and you will love flying a profile-
The Funtana and UCD-46 are outstanding aerobatic planes and can be made to do stellar 3D but an OS-70 is the bottom of the powerband on those (Saito-100, YS-91 is more appropriate on those-)
Keep us posted!

Top of the range? What on the box? Do you actually follow that?
Agree to disagree, I have seen that exact combo and it flew well but could have used more power- I don't want to s l o w l y pull out of a hover, I want accel.
Also, the Funtana and Saito-100 are a perfect match, and it is similar in size and weight to the UCD
Just depends on what folks think is enough power-

Too heavy, I reckon... The Twist being only a 48" fun fly is similar to the Magic Extra which was designed for a 46 2 stroke. You could probably get away with a Saito 72 on it, but I think the OS 70 would be just a tad too heavy....

Not pulling out in time can get a man in trouble

RE: Good 3-D plane for OS70
I would think the Twist and the OS-70 would be a decent match... You can generally throw the 70 onto any 46 sized airplane-
What airplanes do you have your eye on? Everything mentioned in this thread so far will work fine but when you say 3D, that narrows the field a tad with the OS-70... I have a couple of profiles that I enjoy but they are not for everyone- My next airplane will probably be a Funtana- It can do some 3D, fly a pattern and it LOOKS like an airplane!
Anyhow, keep us posted-
james

RE: Good 3-D plane for OS70
I have a twist, somthin extra, Razor 3-D, and a kanke fun 50. Out of all of them the kanke flys best with the .70. It was the only airplane with out of the box true 3-d capability with no moding. It is a little on the expensive side thought it is the best!!!
