had just started engine went to pick up tranny and neck strap touched throttle 1 was on knees hit hand as i tried to jump out of way. Little and ring finger partially severed. Had to have skin graft and a nerve graft from ankle. also severe tendon damage. Wont be kneeling in front of a plane again.

Yet again another exmaple of why aileron/rudder coodination is bad. Hold tranny with left hand, set throttle to full, only use right stick for 10 minutes, no neck-strap needed, problem solved. If everybody could learn to fly without rudder we would have no more cut fingers. sheesh.

Hey sponge Mike, You don't need a neckstrap to fly with rudder, do you? I never have used a neckstrap, and I am one of the few I know who uses rudder, and DOESN'T fly @ full throttle, and with aileron only, in the little racetrack pattern. I leave all that up to the AMA guys.......

I was joking... I do use the rudder, throttle, gear switch, flaps, flukenhimer return valve and ejection seat, but not neck strap. Please listen to your instructor not me. I fly very good (not great) but an instructor would beat me with the field trash can if they saw all my bad habbits.

Are the results from putting your finger in a prop with an electric motor worse than in a glow engine? An electric motor wouldn't stall like a glow engine, would it? Hopefully no one will have to prove this..[X(]

The only prop that has hit me was an electric but it was the Firebird Outlaw which barely has enough power to fly the plane let alone cut through a piece of paper. So if you are going to catch any part in a prop make sure it is a small weak park flyer. The Firebird was a fun first inexpensive first plane though.

My buddy hit may 5 year old daughter in the knees with his 24" span electric park flyer at full tilt (5mph). Beside her saying, "hey, you hit me" and having to stop her from stepping on it in retaliation there was't even a red mark on her bare knees.

My glow engine didn't stall [
] It broke the prop and kept on running
I had to pull the fuel line with my "good" hand to shut it down.

sugeon mentioned that he reckoned the prop had had 3 hits on my ring finger before it stalled. He said my nerve had 2 small sections cut thru it. Little finger had been so badly damaged he couldnt tell. All he said was the prop had followed the line of the tendon. I wondered what the white was thought it was bone byt no it was tendon.

Yeah electric props hurt, was running slo stick in house trying to get run time. Full throttle, stab behind leg of end table, kids at safe distance when cat jumps from top of sofa and sticks nose, then paw into spinning prop. Paw hurts, vet said no broken bones but he's limping very badly, nose and side of face were cut, missed eye luckily. Vet said he'd seen worse from fights. He won't pose for pics, and I'm not going to stress him trying to hold him down. BTW, had speed 300 motor turning 11x4 gws prop with 900mAh nimh battery. He (cat) later bit big chunk out of horz stab and was working on rudder when I chased him away. At least he didn't piss on it...
