Default AFS on a nexstar

as i have said a few times in RCU i have just bought a nexstar what i want to know is what the AFS should be set at i know everybody says they disconnect it but i plan on giving it a try, tower hobbies say that it should be set to about 35% for a beginner but when i test it at 35% gain using a flashlight nothing happens. when i set it to about 75-80% it works. i hope someone can help me

I've never used the afs in my nexstar simply because it is unreliable, I've heard of instructors that have almost crashed because of the fight they had with the afs. If you have an instructor teaching you - turn it off!! I think that if you can take off and land on the simulator you'll do just fine without it. Practice lots of turns with the plane flying toward you also. Towards you because your instincts may be backwards at first.

Turn it off and learn how to fly right the first time!!

Best advice I have don't use it . I almost lost my Nexstar because of it. As others say disconnect and learn to fly properly from the begiinning.
