Default Four-star 40 w/OS 40LA

I'm getting the itch to build a 4*. I have a couple of homeless, well broken in, good running 40LAs. I would appreciate it greatly if any of you can tell me what I can expect for performance from this combination. What can I expect for how it balances? What might I want to lighten in the tail to help with balance? Any other advice on this combination?

what altitude are you at?

this matters alot too...

if your near sea level compared to me (im at 6500MSL)

then it should be ok..

you might want to take 1-2 spars out of the wing to make it quicker since the 40LA is a lazy engine..

I'm very close to sea level and my 4*40 flies fine with my OS 40LA. It is certainly not overpowered but flies nice. Rolls and loops fine. Not a lot of vertical but enough to do loops.

Thank you for the information. My elevation is 756 feet. I hope I can get some more information on mods for this combination. I am considering building the wings one rib shorter.

Are you in Scotsdale? Scotsdale Airpark is at 1508'MSL, so just where do you fly from? Do you fly off McDowell Mtn?

Taking spars out of the wing will make them fold and turn it into a lawn dart, so yep, I guess it will be quicker! [X(] I think you meant shorten the wing by a couple of bays.

It should fly fine on a 40. It won't have a lot of vertical, but will still manuever okay.
