Default Newbie needs input

My son and i are looking at getting into the hobby and we are looking at 2 setups.

1)Purchase a Hobbico Nexstar

2)Sig LT-40 ARF,OS .46 AX Engine and a 6 channel Futaba radio

I am leaning towards #2 but i could use some input on selecting a radio.I want it to be a Futaba because that is what are instructor will have.Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

Either one sounds like a good place to start---

The Nexstar comes with an OS and Futaba equip. doesn't it?

All Hobbico stuff that comes RTF will have Futaba/OS stuff in it. Hard to go wrong with either choice of airplane, I would tend towards the Sig though, just personal pref. Both great planes.

Your option #2 is exactly what I picked up a week ago today. I got the LT-40 ARF for $100 because the previous owner had glued the wing together and decided to get out. I can't tell you how the engine runs or the plane flies (their reputations speak for themselves), but I can say that the ARF has been a dream to put together. Just make sure your control surfaces are neutral before cutting the pushrods! That was my one snafu so far.

I bought a Futaba 6-ch. computer radio because I wanted model memory for future models.

Good luck!

Neither choice is bad, but I like #2
