Should your glow plug stay red the hole time the ignitor is on it?

so if it is only red for a few seconds does that mean your batt. is dead?

yes, or i did this to three of mine, i hooked a 12 volt battery to it and it burned out the filiment

Means your battery is dead or the glow plug is shot.
