Jr is a good radio,,,no bad words there...just buy what feels good in your hand...as far as the second plane goes..i would go a low wing like a goldberg eagle or something like that...for right now...stay clear of all the hot rods...g202...300s...ect....good luck and welcome to this wonderful hobby....

As far as the radio, I think the best is always look at the local flying field. Since you are a beginner, nothing is more convenient than a couple of people that can give you on-site support for your radio.

Most of the people at my field have Futabas and so whenever I have any problems or want to borrow someone's tx for training, I have no problems. Newbies, who are always taken aback by the look of the JR (I love them over the Futaba's too) buy them and then have a really hard time finding a person that can take them up on a buddy box.

On that note, what do you have now? Just think that if you stay with the same brand, you will be able to teach your friends.

The 6102 is a great radio, but I'd recommend you go with the flow.

As for a second plane, I recommend my favorite WM rambler 30... nicest flying ARF on the market and it's a looker, too!

Well if that's the case, then the JR is the way. I'm sure that those other guys will be useful in someway.

The Jr you are looking at is a very good radio for the price. I would not hesitate to reccomend one. I fly Futaba because that is what i started with. If I had not I would undoubtedly be using JR.

As for a second plane you cannot go wrong with a 4*,TigerII,Midstar or the Great Planes midwing that it's name escapes me just now. Any of these would be a great second plane. They are available in kits and ARF's so you can have your choice. Good luck.

PS: oops forgot the Midstar is only available as a kit, my bad.
