Well Guy's,
I had my SS flown Weds night. Things didn't go like I wanted them to but went well enough. I didn't get to fly it because of some damage done on the trim flight by my instructor which really isn't his fault. On the first flight everything was going good. He was going through all the manuvers when he went inverted and the engine stopped. So he had to do a dead stick landing which I must say he handled very well. He came in really hot (didn't have much choice) and ended up doing everything he could to keep it out of the road that runs right by our field. End result was a landing gear block jarred loose (probably wasn't glued very well from the factory) and some messed up wheel pants and a grass stain on the wing. Other than that I was really pleased. The Super Tigre gs-45 seems to be a real monster of a motor for that plane. It is really fast unlike my trainer, and it is cool looking as well. Anyway's I fixed it all last night and am ready for the next time out.
Hopfully next Weds I will get to try it out.
Going to budy box the first couple of flights with the instructor so I can get used to it.

Glad the damage was minimal.
I would highly recommend removing the pants though. They cause a huge amount of drag on a grass runway, and my origianl Sportster had a wheel pant kick right up through the wing on a VERY gentle landing. The pants will also cause the plane to nose over a lot when trying to taxi.
Absolutely wonderful plane with GREAT flying characteristics, but lose the pants. [

Mine was pre-ARF but someone else built it. I usually don't buy planes from others, but couldn't pass this one up. I too had the blocks break out and the pants go through the wing. I cut the bottom open, put in retracts and WOW, what a huge diff. That thing flys awsome with retracts in it. I have another kit I am going to build and put the same retracts in. Sweet plane!

The wheels pants are a pain in grass and dirt so you definetely need too take em off. I have a paved field and i went off the end of the runnway (my first landing with the plane was a dead stick) and his some rocks and broke the pants off the supports and that was the only damage.

Thanks, for the advice. I did take the wheel pants off and don't intend on putting them back on. Does anyone have any ideas why the engine might have flamed out inverted. The clunk in the tank from what I can see is working. Did the vertical test and it runs just fine. When you turn it upside down it really seems to bog down. The only thing I can think of is that is has a little to much vibration. I think the root cause of that is the Spinner. Going to pick up a new one of those today along with a few different sized props. That thing was turning 14800 rpm with a 10x7 which is one of the manufacturers recommended break in props. Anyways, any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a fuel tank position issue. I built a Supersportster kit and running an Evo .46 on it. No probs inverted. It's a fairly quick little airplane.
