Well, I just had to do it! I activated the ailerons on my SS by cutting out the molded ailerons and mounted one servo in the center of the wing. It changed the CG a lot so I had to move the wing back to about 5 1/2" from the front of the motor and mounted the battery pack just behind the motor. The first flight was a little scary, but it flew great after I made some trim adjustments. Not only was it fun to make the modification, but also added a lot more fun to fly the SS with ailerons. I have photos of the modification if anyone wants me to e-mail them.

I'd love to see some pics showing the setup of the servo to the ailerons.
I have a SS as well, and love it. Installed a 9.6v battery and a 12 prop. I can almost hover!
Are these structurally sturdy? I've been afraid to get too much airspeed, or do any hard maneuvers for fear of folding the thing up. I did this with a tiger moth once, and helplessly watched it spiral into the ground with folded wings. These do look more sturdy though, with the fiberglass rods in the front and back.
What do you think about the structural integrity?
Can you barrel-roll with the ailerons?

The Slow Stick is a remarkably sturdy airplane for a slow flyer. Mine will loop easily but I don't pull a lot of G's. The Tiger Moths that I have seen are by sontrast quite fragile, especially if more power is added. A nice airplane to fly around the patch but the glide angle resembles a baseball. My Slow Stick does not need reserve power to glide into a landing. I'm glad someone had the courage to try the ailerons and I'm sure it is more fun to fly but about rolls I'd like to hear more.

Try this link "http://chsalescorp.com/slowstick.html" to see picts of the aileron conversion on my SS. It sure is a lot more fun to fly, but there is not enough speed to do rolls. I admit though, I haven’t had much flying time or guts to give it a good try. That’s next. You surly don’t have to worry about the plane holding up to G force with a 300 motor. I do loops all the time without any structural problems. It is not only fun to make the conversion, but to give one a little experience flying with ailerons. If you have trouble opening the HTML, try to copy and past into your browser. If all fails, give me your e-mail address and I’ll send the two picts to you.
