I need some help with my mds .58, it is in a u-can-do 46. The problem is the os 8 glow plugs burning out. I have the mixture on the rich side. I seems like it burn out if I run the engine dry , not sure if that is the problem thou. Would like any sugestions I can get.

Thanks Thetoad

That engine will always give you problems. Dump it for another. Dennis

thetoad,

Go post over in the glow engines forum for help. You'll find actual help there rather than just MDS bashing. Also make sure you provide some more details. How many flights are you getting on a plug? Is the element shorting out or just not getting hot enough? They'll need better info to make an recommendations.

One of my buddies love MDS engines and has a number of them. He gets good performance and they seem to be reliable. On the other hand, I think they must be a pain to get set right as I see a lot of people bashing them.

Had one once, once being the key word. Seriously, they need 5% fuel and a good carb will do wonders. I sent mine back to Horrizon as no one could make it reliable after three carbs..
Use a carb such as a Super tigre or MVVS, If the base is slightly oversize or of the proper size it will do wonders. The oversize base can be turned down to fit your engine.
Mine had serious power just quit on most flights, finally got the high end and low end right, the mid-range loaded up.....all carb.
Good luck
