Default easy sport 40

guys, whats up with this easy sport 40 from great planes. they give you a choice to build it as a tricycle or a tail dragger version. i built it as a tail dragger. one i finished the plane i weighed the plane and it was within the weight range. i tried to balance it an she was all tail heavy, no blobs of glue no added weight in the back. if i decide to add more weight in the front, now she will be even heavier. any ideas on this?!?!?!?!?!?[:@]

Don't worry about the final weight. You HAVE to balance it. If it means adding weight, that is what you will have to do. Before adding weight, reposition your battery pack and receiver and see if that helps. I've not bought many planes that weigh in what they are advertised. They are almost always heavier.

If you did all that and it still isnt balanced, then you will have to add weight to the nose. If you have another larger engine, try that.

There's no sin in adding weight. A few oz of lead here or there won't send your plane into a death spiral.

My record so far was 13oz (Almost a pound!) of lead in the nose of a Spitfire.

It flew great!

I have an Easy Sport I built about four years ago. It is built as a tail dragger and covered with Koverall and dope. Power is an older model MDS 46. It balanced right on with no added weight and is one great flier. There is much room to move equipment to get the balance right, however if you don't want to move stuff, a little weight in the nose won't hurt anything.

I don't know. Maybe you will have to give this one away too.

You crashed the easy sport you are asking about? You really need to get some help if you've never flown before.

I'm curious why you gave away your first kit. What exactly made you think it was defective?

call me dumb, i just thought it was defective[:-] with this plane i also had the thing sheeted in cloth and resin to give it a nice paint finish, im not big on monokote, i figured this was the problem, so when it was time to balance it, she was all tail heavy. so i just decided to give it to a friend. his time ill just use monokote and balance it and take it from there.
