Today I solo'ed - the attached photo is me (tall one) and my instructor Ron right after my first solo flight (getting my flight card). followed that flight with 4 more today - all were solo and good ones. Nice take off and landings! The wind kicked up in the afternoon and I am not yet comfortable with flying in that - None the less, a very successful day!
Thanks to all of you who gave me great tips on the NexSTAR...

Mr. Don, First off congratulations! I love it when I see a new pilot get hooked and get their wings!
Secondly, what did you think of taking off towards a small mountain (and possibly incoming cars-) and landing next to a really BIG tree?
Yes my friend, I AM a Weedwacker.... I am usually there Sunday afternoons if you ever need anything! I always have a buddy-box (Though it sounds as if you may not need one
) with me also---
Welcome to :

2. Weedwacker Aero.

Congratulations!
There is a guy at our club with the NexStar, and he is a pretty good pilot. He had practiced on the sim for a couple months before flying. It was him and I early this morning, and I did his takeoff and landing, but let him fly. He did very well. I expect him to solo very soon as well...

Don,
Congrats, it is great to solo! I remember that night so vividly. Both my son and I soloed that night and we celebrated afterwards.
The key to continuing to progress is to practice a lot. The more you do, the more fun you will have.
Once you stop thinking so much about what to do and are more concerned with the manuever you want to learn you will have even more fun.

WoW! I love reading about people soloing. I'm working at getting there myself. I've had my plane up 6 times so far and am getting less and less nervous. My instructor helps a lot in that department. He is so calm and cool about it and doesn't get upset at me about anything. That helps me to stay calmer and concentrate on flying the plane and having fun. I look forward to joining the club.
