Default servo repair?

I am a beginner flyer. I have had a problem with my rudder servo sticking when I turn on power. It turns hard left and will not respond to any remote control movements. Why does this happen? How do I fix it?

Default Maybe????

Hello, and welcome versa01 !! I am not sure if we have enough info...but I will mention a couple things that come to mind.
Of course the first thing would be a binding of the linkage somewhere. Remove the control rod from the servo arm and MANUALY move the rod to see if you feel a resistance. Locate the source and repair. If none, this thought comes to mind. Your servo arm MAY not have been centered when the control rod was attached. Remove the screw and the servo arm by pulling it straight up. (you can leave the control rod attached but I would remove it from the arm). Set the trim adjustment in center for your rudder, on the transmitter, and turn it on. Turn on your receiver. Your rudder servo will now be centered. Replace the servo arm by pushing it straight down on the servo shaft. ( NOTE: WHEN TRYING TO FIND THE RIGHT SPLINE....BE CARFUL NOT TO MOVE THE SERVO SHAFT. The best insurance here is to leave the radio and receiver on when replacing servo arm). Install the arm as close to 90 degrees to the control rod as you can. Now..... since the servo is now centered you MAY have to work on mechanically centering the rudder. Re-attach your rudder control rod and center the rudder by moving the clevis in or out or whatever it needs.
I apoligize in advance if you know these basics already..... I was not sure from info supplied. Hope this helps.....lownslo

Default servo repair?

Is the plane new or used? Did it ever work? Or is has it done it since you got the plane?

Default servo repair?

It is a used plane. Apparently the guy that I bought it from had been flying it. The first time I went to check the controls I turned on the remote and reciever and began moving everything. When I got to the rudder I moved it a couple of times and then it seemed to lock up on me.

First off, make sure that the battery is fully charged and in good shape. does it check out on a voltmeter or expanded scale voltmeter with a load? If the battery is okay, swap one of the other servos with the rudder servo (just interchange the places they plug into the reciever). Now, if the same servo still doesn't work when plugged into the new channel, the servo is bad. If the second servo (now plugged into where the rudder servo was plugged into) now acts up, it is the decoder in the receiver or the transmitter pulse train. If so, you need to send in the Xmtr and reciever to a radio repair service. If the servo is bad, just replace it with a new one.

Default servo repair?

versa01:

Since the servo is also connected to the nose gear, I betcha the
inner nylon gear group are stripped. On a trainer, the prop and
nose wheel are the first to contact mother earth on landings.
You can either buy a new $12.00 servo or the $4.00 gear set.
Your call.

Default servo repair?

It's a good Q ?

Thi was plauging me for a while .

Is the plane a Tail Dragger . These tendencies generally happen on a tail dragger due to wind .

If til dragger , Then hold the up elevator , so that the plane actually sits on the tarmac , before take off & release the elevator slowly .

U can control the movement wit hthe help of the ruddr easily now .

If it is a front wheel aircraft , hodl the down elevator so that the frotn wheel is on the tarmac & u coudl control with the rudder .

If this fails , try centering the torque rods on the servo horns .

If that fails , then mate ............... grab a chilled beer & go the flying field have some mate of urs look it up .

Regards.
