I remember reading in a magazine about a launching stooge used at combat events.
Is anybody familiar with one, and can you tell me exactly what it is?

You do not want a launching stooge which is used to hold a control-line model when no one is available to assist the pilot. You are looking for a catapault to toss the model into the air. Plans have been published and you might try a search here for information.
