Default Idle needle valve adjustmet?

I have a thunder tiger .25 pro, and the idle needle valve came set wrong from the factory and I cant get it set right. If anyone knows a good starting point to set it at, or the proper setting from the factory, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a two needle carb or an air bleed type? A two needle carb will have a screw inside the throttle arm (not just a screw that holds the arm on).

If it's a two needle carb I'd try setting it about two and a half tunrs out from fully closed, then turn it in from there until it idles well. (It should be pretty rich at 2 1/2 out.) Turning it in will lean the low end.

If it's an air bleed type there will be a tiny hole in the front of the carb and a screw to the side. Turning the screw will close off or open that hole. I'd start with the hole about half open. Just remember, turning an air blled screw in "richens" the engine because you're adjusting the amount of air, rather than fuel.

Hopefully, someone with instructions for the 25 PRO will be able to tell you definitely though.

A good technique to get close (with a true idle NV, not air bleed) is to put fuel tubing on the carburetor and blow in to it with your mouth. Do this with the throttle in the normal nearly closed idle position. this is when you can just barely see a small opening at the throttle. With the throttle set this way, you should be able to hear some air (from your breath pressure) passing thru the needle valve. You need to do this in a quiet place. If there is no air passing thru you are too lean. Open the low speed NV until some air passes through. This is usually a good starting point to get the engine running.

Thanks guys, the carb is a true idle needle valve, not air bleed. I will try DMcQuinn's technique and see how it runs!
