Hey everyone, just wanted to say what a great site this is for RC info. I had a quick quesiton if no one minds, I have been training on a trainer for a while and am ready to get a second plane. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? High wing, low wing, tail dragger, trike, etc....... all i do know is that I like the bigger wingspans, such as 65"+ . Any advice would be greatly appreciated and again, this site is great... i think the info on this site will make my new hobby that much more enjoyable !! Thanks!!!

High wing or low is a choice you will have to make for your self. There are many of either that would make a great second plane. You will no doubt get a lot of feed back on what you should acquire. Take all of the info into account along with your ideas of what type of flying you want to do, 3D, aerobatics, etc and then decide on what will suit your needs best.
If you can give us some idea of the type of flying you are interested in, you might get a better recommendation.

To be honest, i've watched 3D, aerobatics, etc...... and all i'm really interested in in something fun to fly, do some aerobatics, but really, just something that is large, stable, and easy to fly. It doesnt matter if its a taildragger or trike because i'll learn no matter what the case. My trainer is a trike so i'm used to that. The only stipulation i really have is that I really would like it to be bigger than 65" wingspan because i love the way the bigger planes fly. Hope that helps a little bit. Thanks for the quick response !!

The Hangar 9 Ultra Sticks make good second planes. They are easy to fly and land, but can be set up to be very acrobatic. Nobody I know ever gets bored flying one of these.

Look at the larger 4*s. I`d wager that the 4* series ( 40, 60, 120 ) has provided an intro to low wing taildraggers to more new pilots than any other single plane or series. There`s a good reason if that`s so. They are all time RC classics, IMHO.

Sulo,
Welcome to RCU. It IS a great place and probably will help make your RC experience better.
The Four Star (4*) recommendation in the larger sizes is a good one. It's a low wing tail dragger that flys exceptionally well, lands more like a trainer than some trainers, yet is pretty aerobatic as well.
There are many other planes in the size you're looking for, but the 4* series is an almost sure thing for a second plane. You could also try to find one of the larger Super Sportsters, but the 40 size is most popular, or the Thunder Tiger 60 is an exceptional flyer.

If you are looking for a larger 2nd plane, check out the Goldberg Tiger 60. It comes as an ARF or a kit. It has a 70" wingspan and is a trike gear. Will do most any sport aerobatic you want and is a *****cat to land.

I have a GP Spacewalker, 79 inch wingspan, taildragger. It flies easy and is a good floater.
It has plenty of power with a 91 4 stroke in it.
