Default Futaba Servos and JR receiver

Will futaba servos work with a JR receiver ? If not, will any other servos work with a JR recevier other than JR. I'm just unclear on the compatibility of radio components, i dont know if you can just mix and match or if you have to have certain things with other certain things ..... any help would be great cause i'm interested in a plane with futaba servos but i have a JR radio and rcvr. Thanks!

In the past, I have had a compatability problem using a Futaba Rx and Jr servos, but I have not tried using them your way. I was using Futabe T6xa and T6xas transmitters and the rRx that came with each system on PPM.

I know that Hitec servos are absolutely compatable with JR equipment.

I presume that you are currently using a JR Tx and Rx, so the nautral assumption is that you are trying to save money by using less expensive equipment. Understandable, but, bear in mind that the attempt to save a few dollars in the area which controls your aircraft will sometimes cost a lot more in the long run.

I think I've used JR extension leads with my Hitec servos.
To be sure of order, JR yellow is Futaba white and the brown is Futaba black -- if they're in the same sequence, it will work. It's easy to change pin location in the male connector from the servo.

I used Futaba servos and JR receiver in my Typhoon 900 that I flew last year. You will have to cut the alignment tang off the Futaba servo plugs. Just watch how the polarity is when you plug them in. It won't hurt anything but the servos won't work if they are plugged in backward. keep the white wire on the orange wire side and they will work fine.

All modern servos will work with any modern receiver. You may have to physically modify the plugs to fit into the receiver but; if you have the polarity proper, they will work.

I fly JR tansmitters with various receivers (JR, Futaba, Hitech, FMA) and servos (JR, Futaba, Hitech, Airtronics, Ace, FMA, GWS, Bluebird, Multiplex and other junk) and the only time I have an incompatability is with two different brands on a Y connector. A couple of the oddball servos didn't like playing together. On different channels and mixed, everything was OK.

Ed,
I think you made a mistake in your statement above. You said you use a JR transmitter with Futaba receivers, and to my knowledge, they are NOT compatible.

But Futaba servos should be fine on a JR receiver, just trim off the little tab on the side of the servo connector, as someone already mentioned.

ok, so i should be good then if i see a plane i like in the market place that comes with Futaba servos, or any servos for the matter, as long as I use my JR RX and TX. Awesome, i'm glad i dont have to be totally dependant on one brand. Thanks guys!!!
