Default Transmitter vs Receiver??

Being new I need to ask this question. I have a futaba 6 channel radio with receiver and servos and am going to use that receiver in one plane that I have. I am looking at buying another plane that already has a JR or Airtronics receiver with servos in it. My question is, will I be able to use my existing Futaba transmitter on this new plane as long as the receiver in the new plane is on the same radio channel? Even if the new plane has a JR or Airtronics receiver in it that should not matter should it? I figured as long as the radio channels in the receiver and the transmitter are the same there should be no problem. Please correct me if I am wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am useing a Futaba 6EXA.

The short answer is no, they are not compatible. Generally Futaba and Hitec will work together, and JR and Airtronics will work together. This is not always true, and there are things other than the brand that come into play.

yeah the futaba transimtter and and airtronics reciver will not work together because the futaba uses the a different type of signal. a futaba and hitec uses either positive shift and the jr and airtronics uses the negative shift. (don't quote me on the shifts because I'm not sure if futaba uses the positive or the negative shift)

Newer FMA rcvrs. Have automatic shift. Get the dual conversion ones and you won't have trouble. I have a half a dozen and have had no trouble with any of them.

Futaba and Hitec are usable together under certain terms. You can use a Futaba TX with a Hitec RX only if you have a Hitec crystal in the RX If you have a Futaba Crystal in the Hitec RX you will most definatly have compatability issues. I do not believe that the RX and TX from airtronic and JR are interchangable with each other.

futaba and hitech are negative
jr and sanwa/airtronics are positive

some transmitters will let you select either shift but not futaba

joeb102072 -- sorry --- The Futaba Tx & Hitec receiver combo will work just fine with either a Futaba or Hitec xtal.

Sorry I disagree. Do a search in here to read other posts on using a hitec crystal with a futaba reciever. They may and I stress may work but the facts are the mutipliers in the crystals are not compatable with the recievers when you interchange brands EG hitec to futaba and futaba to hitec. On the rare ocasion you may get one to talk to each other but thats a heck of a chance to take for a $10.00 crystal. (Please note I am only talking about the reciever and the reciever crystal not the TX or TX crystal)

joeb -- I fly that way evey day, & so do many of my buddies -- absolutely no problems. If you ask Futaba, they will say no -- they want to sell you a Xtal.

All I can say is borrowed time my friend thats what you guys are on. But then again what kind of set ups are you using? Computer radios PCM receivers? If only have a 4 channel or 6 channel non computer you prob wont have an issue. I used that set up in my 9cap 8 channel receiver and hitec crystal and couldnt get it to range check past 15 ft. after 2 failed attempts to use a hitec crystal figureing I could of had a bad one I ran across an article that explained the multipliers in the crystals and their compatability. NON Futata biased i assure you. Any way seeing as though my LHS only had hitecs in stock on my channel I had to order a futaba crystal from tower. Since then no issues at all. But thats just my own experience. Like I said before for the matter of a couple of dollars futaba to hitec thats a heck of a chance to take. bottom line is if there is the slightest chance that there is a compatability issue just the least little bit why would you press the limits. we as model airplane piliots already do every time we put a plane into the air we take that big chance that nothing will happen. I dont want to increase those odds when i fly.
