I have a Cub, but it is a full KIT from GP. Nice plane, but I am not ready to fly it yet, so it is hung up in my son's room. I hear the Cub is a good flyer, gentle, but it is tough to land because it has so much lift, as well it is not good on the ground. There are some tricks to if.
If you are learning, go to a good trainer, then move up to the Cub.

Had a Hanger 9 80" J3 for a couple of years til I put it into the hydro wires. Great arf, very well put together and covered extremely well. Had trouble taking off til I got the advice that I needed right nere on RC universe. It balanced out well on cg but was still a real floater. Again, reat advice from RC universe members. A degree or two of down thrust on the engine and flying with the struts on ( to bleed of some speed) and a couple of degrees of up on both aileron when in neutral position had it settling in on a perfect descent rate for my abilities. Can hardly wait to get another H9 J3 Cub.

If you have trouble landing a Cub, check your CG.
If they're properly balanced, they will settle right in.

To me the real challange is during take-off. Cubs have a tendancy to weather vane (turn into the wind) in cross winds. They seem to be doing OK until the tail comes up then they get a bit "funky" on occasion. I'd like to try taking off of pavement to see if it is easier - my guess is some of the challange is due to the rather wide, stubby tires taking off of a grass strip.
