Thanks! Hopefully after the first flight I'll still have something other than those photos. [X(]

it flies as good as it looks. You will be happy with it. The 4*
is a good first low wing plane by any means.

Body Pilot, you will find your combination of plane and engine to be about perfect. This plane is a Bruce Tharpe design back when he worked at SIG, and one of he things that make this an exceptional design is the very broad flight envelope it has. Sure, it will scoot along with the other planes, however, it also has terrific slow flight ability. If you haven't done much slow flight you have a real treat in store. 3D planes do slow flight by flying on the prop (so does that then become a rotary wing - don't get me started), but this plane will fly slow on the wing. Suggest a 11X6 APC prop, then, if you want slower speed with higher torque performance, go to a lower pitch like 11.5X4. Experiment, see what you like best

Great looking plane. I built the kit, and really love it. I think you'll find it lands easier and prettier than your Nexstar. Comments:
-I don't know if the ARF comes with the engine and tank compartment already fuel-proofed, but you might consider doing that.
-If you're flying off of grass, don't be surprised if your instructor advises you to remove the wheel pants.
Great plane, have fun!

Looks great! I really like those wheel pants too. But like Glen said, if you are flying off of a grass field, best bet is to remove them. I'm just finishing up my 4*40 kit. I made a few changes to mine however.

I fly mine off grass with the pants on.. it takes a little longer to get going, but once rolling, no biggie.. just use some good up elevator to keep from nosing over. The plane is a real floater, just watch out, with those wheels, it's hard to accomodate an 11 prop on grass..

BodyPilot- did you have to add weight, and if you did where did you add it? I have the same engine in mine but have yet to balance it but it appears to be rather nose heavy.
Why remove the wheel pants, do they not do well grass fields?

Just watch the length of the grass. Fairly short should be no problem ( I fly this same plane with pants off of a grass field ). They do look kinda sharp, and the 4*, although a great airplane and an RC classic, in my humble opinion, needs all the dressing up it can get!

My plane was very nose heavy with the TT Pro .46. I just had to put the battery pack behind the servo tray. Balanced out just about perfect like that. I did re-fuelproof everything also.
We've got a pretty nice runway at our field. So MOST of the time i'll be landing pavement.

Just took the plane up to the field to get the engine wet. The engine is running like a champ!
The first time I started it I put a starter on it. That took about 2 seconds of spinning. The next 3 tanks of fuel I ran through it, it took one flip of the chicken stick! I really didn't expect to be starting it with a chicken stick so soon. Let alone, 1 FLIP!! I'm happy. [8D]
Going to do the final balancing tonight. I have my instructor meeting me tomorrow evening to introduce her to the sky. Can't wait! I think I'll buddy box my first few flights. Just in case.
Oh yeah, I've got plenty of pictures to prove that it was in one piece at one time. [X(]
