Thinking of taking all the servos/engine from my NextStar. Trying to decide between Hanger 9 Twist 40 or U Can DO 3D 46.
Which one would you get.
I am more inclined towards the Twist...let me know if you think other wise.
Thanks.

The Twist is a great transition to a highly aerobatic model. For full bore 3D, the U-Can-Do is the one. I don't neccesarily recommend this type of plane as a second plane after a trainer, a better choice would be a low wing such as 4*40 or Tiger II. But to answer your question...Twist.

I have flown both and did a kit review on the Twist. At low controls, the Twist is like a Stick with a low wing, very easy to fly.
The Twist seems to handle higher speeds better than the UCD. With all planes that have huge control surfaces, you need to be aware that flutter can occur and can be destructive.
The Twist has a slight opposite roll with rudder, while the UCD has directional roll and pitch down.
2 UCD's at my field have had tails break off in flight. One, a .46 size, twice.
The Twist builds a little tail heavy with a .46 and needed a heavy hub to balance. I can't say about the UCD.
The Twist is also not a slouch in 3D. It did everything I could do and is very good at blenders, flat spins, both upright and inverted and forward flips (waterfalls). It is an easy flat spinning son-of-a-gun. It seems like it will hang there for a whole tank.
Just from what I have flown and seen, I would recommend the Twist.

I went wtith the Funtana 90 over it though....
anyway, the twist is smaller, lighter, cheaper, and you can also get by with a smaller engine in it, whereas a ucd46 with a 46 is going to be a dog. They both are great planes, but for your engine I would recommend the twist.

If it wasn't for the 46 engine size, I would be the one to recommend the U-Can-Do. However, with a 46 size the twist would probably be the one you would want. My U Can Do has a Saito 72 for the powerplant and I love it. I would concur that the 46 engine wouldn't make the U Can Do much fun.

Thanks All, Twist it is. I was more into it in the first place. But you helped me solidify my decition.
Besides if I crash it, its only $100 for the ARF.
P.S. this is not my second Low wing. 4* 60 was my second. This is my fist 3D.

I have both. However, I haven't flown the U Can Do, only the Twist. My Twist has an Evo .46 in it. Last two flights, I had engine probs where at half throttle (was going vertical to do a stall spin), the engine quit and I had to dead stick. Man, it floated down like a parachute.
Best landing I've ever done!
Anyways, mount your current .46 at the end of the engine mount as the Twist builds tail heavy. Its has a 1 inch CG range. Forward at 4 inches from LE and to do really cool 3D stuff, tail heavy at 5 inches. These values are in the manual. My Twist, I had to add just about 6 ounces of weight in the nose to balance at 4 3/8 inches.
