Default homemade deflection meter

hey all,
I'm cheap and poor. Is there good method of making a deflection meter? Using the paper one that came with my Superstar kind of stinks.
Searched forums with no luck.

Undoubtedly, but it will cost money -- the cardboard ones work just fine.
