I've been flying since May of this year. I went from a 40 size trainer plane to a Sig Kadet Sr. Flew it for a couple months and now am flying a VMAR stick. I am doing very well with the stick and have flown it about 15 - 20 times now successfully. I'm not real impressed with the quality of this plane and want to get a new one with a 4 stroke engine. I'm deciding between the Goldberg Tiger 60 or the Sig 4 Star 60. Anyone who's flown both of these have any suggestions and motor recommendations?

I flew a Tiger 60 with a ST 61 on it for quite some time. Absolutley loved it.
I've flown but never owned a 4*. They to are great flying planes.
I would recomend the Tiger, but that is just my opinion. Both planes fly about the same and have the same general flight abilities. I think it boils down to which one looks better to you.
If you wanted a four stroke the New Saito 82 would be just about right for either of these planes. Agian thats just my opinion

Thanks Chassan: I'm leanding toward the Tiger. I like the way both of them look, I guess I'm a little torn between tail dragger or trike gear...

You can mod both to get the gear you want. Not hard to do. I've seen more Tigers modded to tail dragger than 4* modded to trike gear.
Basically you just get some aluminum gear and mount them so the axels are under the leading edge of the wing. Pick up a tailwheel and mount that on the back and you are good to go. There should be some good posts around here that go into more details.
I would also like to correct myself. The Saito 82 would be a good engine, but you might be more pleased with a 90 or 91 4stroke. if you wish for unlimited vertical even a 100 would be ok.
When I get my new one (been saying that for 6 years since I dorked the old one) I'm going with a 91 I think.
Ahh the memories.

I have not flown the tiger but I do have the 4* 60 powered with a ST .61. I love it. It flys like a dream, however I think I will be looking for more power in the future. But for now, it has enough power to stay with my ability. I've been solo for about 4 gallons.

This is my post on a Tiger 60, with pictures and mods. I built mine as a taildragger, it has great ground handling, flies well. I have even trimmed my hedgerow with it twice, with no damage except to my pride. I am still searching for the best prop combo for it.

I prefer the Tier 60. The T 60 is set up for either trike or tail dragger landing gear. Go with tail dragger. Much more durable. The T 60 has a positive decent rate so it is easy ito land in windy conditions. The 4* doesn't want to lose altitude unless it is almost at a stand still. This makes landing the 4* in windy conditons a bit more tricky. The T 60 will fly faster and is a smoother flyer. ITs slightly more expensive but the higher performance is worth it.
