LOL Beware my friend...
I also wanted a new engine, logged on to Tower to order it and here I sit with a big credit card bill and a looong list of things I thought would be good to have.
Gotta love the easiness and availability of online shopping!

Why not a O.S. 50SX? I've built 4 SE's and always used .46FXs and wanted a little bit more power. Has anyone got any thoughts on this. I've never seen a SX in action. The price is as much as a .61FX but I'm not gonna go putting my .61FX on my SE!

Tycho,
Buy a four stroke. Once you've owned one, you'll probably never want another two stroke, so start now.
Dennis-
I agree with Denis on this one for sure.... I only own one 2 stroke and it is on the club trainer!

Curious why you left the .61 K&B 6170 off list I or II? Weight (14.25 oz) and HP (1.8) are similar to others in these lists, and HP is better than many of them. Price ($99.99) is in line too.

No other reason than the comments about a .61 size engine was too big, but in this case the K&B 6170 fits in the 50-ish engine class, so you're right - it's still a contender. From the web-site it looks like the $99 price is temporary. Any idea why they're running this special given that the .46 is $139?

tychoc-you might want to look at this forum thread currently active in the engine forum-it may answer a few of your questions.
The price reduction may be because they 'might' be going to offer a version of the ringed engine with some of the design mods offered in the abc twist version(more power). Therefore selling some of the abc twist versions to reduce inventory??

I did look at it, but at $159.99 it seems a little overpriced compared to the competition?

At just $50 more I could get into a Saito or a YS 4-cycle. I've heard good things about the SX-50 too though.
