Hi
You wont beleve it but im almost finished my new Vmar, (it took me only 3hours!!!)
Im just waiting for bits + bobs and my brand new Jen 56!
Question:
Look at the first picture.
Do i need that padding between the wings? Instructions dont say anything.
I will have a Jen 56 in this, now i have Futaba S148's in rudder throttle ele. and
S3003's in wings. Should i change my ele servos on S3004 or S3001?

I would probably say No to the padding, its probably just thier to proctect the plane in transport............ if the instructions dont say anything dont use it............
I fly alot of 3D planes with plug in wings and NONE of them have any kind of padding inbetween..... its not a great idea to have a gap inbetween the wings if u dont want them falling off in flight...........
As to the servo's the ones u have seem fine

There seems to be something wrong with a post about an Extra in the Beginners Forum. I'll go out on a limb here and say an Extra isn't even a good second plane. I watched a beginner who was warned stuff his Extra from to much elevator throw, he never new what the problem was and started screaming radio hit, rather funny.

Volkan: Hope the fingers are all healed up good!
Hope you have better luck with your VMAR than I did. I found my VStick to be built substandard and the covering difficult to deal with. Flies real good though, but I bought a VMAX engine and the throttle body froze up while I was breaking it in. Sent it back and it's been gone over a month now. It's on it's way home now but noone has contacted me to let me know what they did, only a standard UPS Notification message of "something" being shipped from them.
I'm not pleased with VMAR or their service after the sale. The staff is not friendly nor helpful. I will not be repeating business with them.
Let us know how the extra flies!

Just remember to land fast......... it will not glide in..... and they will not want to slow down and if its too slow it will drop a wing in a second and plant itself.................
Sometimes i forget with mine until the last second and think Oh S**T........ its still alive thou

I was told that about me super air...
but i manged to land it slow. I think i maybe able to
land it slow, i will do a couple of low passes and see.
twistr what do you expect!! Vmar do cheap kits that
fly and look good. I dont know anything about there engines, i will get a
Jen 56 for mine (jen 56 = a engine made by Just engines in the uk
with a crankcase of a .40 size, but the power of a .60. Its one of the best engines
ive seen)
The quality of the kit/balsa looks ok, but i said that with my blackhorse super air
(who also make cheap kits), then with i crashed the wings i found that the main
ply joiner was only jammed between the upper and the lower spar... so that shows you.
as for my extra
i will get:
Throttle = FP148
Ele = S3004
Rudder = S3004
Wings = 2xS3003.
Ill get a video of the madien...if the weather permits, this weekend.

Volkan,
Had my Vmar 330L about 3 weeks now. Powerwed with OS46FX and JR radio Flys Great. The covering is a bit poor needed reshrinking after the first day in the sun. I fitted the wing pads and looks like they are there to take up any difference in wing to fuse fitment. You can land as any other aircraft like any other, just keep the speed up at first untill you get used too it or it will tip stall.The pink sky pattern under the wings and tail is very easy to see in the sky. Good luck.
Cheers.

Well, I got my engine back from Richmond today. They replaced it under warranty. If it breaks in and runs good, I'll be satisfied. Will keep you posted...

Volkan,
For vertical you want a bigger prop with less pitch, think of it in terms of a heli blade. Something like a 12x6 or 13x5 which won't have the top end speed but will give you more thrust. I prefer to prop aerobatic planes for less speed and more vertical performance so I get consistant uplines and shorter take off runs. They also are less twichy at slower speeds and you can do more with them. It's like running in first or second gear instead of third or fourth. Experiment on what works best for you.

Volkan,
The left wing panel was not a flush fit with the fuse 1 deg out, but can be taken up with foam. Had to reset Incidence of right wing out by 3deg.

Ghost,
Can't i just trim the alu joiners?
On my extra there is a gap on both wings!
so, im thinking of trimming them abit and experimenting
with them, i dont quite understand what you have done,
the vmar fuse was built on a worktop, under a dryer machine, it has already needs re-shrinking

volkan,
Measure the depth of the holes in the wing panels for the alu joiners before you cut them. Remember the longer joiner goes to the rear. the 1deg out was at the front of the wing. I have heard that they may have been built by deaf and blind builders as the quality varies greatly from model to model. As with the covering that is another story. I am thinking of recovering mine from scratch as it has started lifting again.
Cheers.
