I was assembling my TT Lazy Tiger and found out that my left nut is missing... just kidding. I found that the nut at the end of the 32SX muffler is missing. Anyone know the dimensions of this nut? Thanks!

that is common with most os engines. i would HIGHLY reccomend that you buy a piece of 4-40 threaded rod, run it all the way through the muffler, and secure it by locking nuts (nylock) on either side. sure it does not look quite as good, but you will never strip the phillips head out ad one end (which also happens a lot) and you will never have to worry about loosing that nut again. i lost the balk half of my muffler once, becasue i did notdo that, and i replaced it with the setup i mentioned and it looks fine, and works fine.

Here's what I found forestroke. I measured the diameter of the threaded portion of the long screw that goes through the .32SX muffler. It's 3mm. The .46 looks like 3.5. The .91 is bigger yet, probably 4mm. I didn't pull the long screw out so I could measure the thread pitch (too lazy). Your local auto suppy might have small metric nuts. If you can't get a 3mm lock nut, double nut it with plain old hex nuts. Clam's all-thread method would work well too.

Unfortunately guys, it's NOT a 3mm nut! Now I have a bunch of them that don't fit :-) I think it might be a 1/8" if you can believe that!!! I will buy one and let you guys know. :-(

Thanks, Chuck, I followed your link and it looks just about right... now where in hell am I going to get a 3.5mm nut? (Other than from Towerhobbies and other hobby stores in the states!!!)

Good question. There's lots of markets in Taipei, time to go shopping. Or perhaps there is a hobby shop that can get OS parts for you? Isn't Japan fairly close to Taiwan?
It actually seems kind of funny that someone from any other country in the world would need to shop USA vendors to find a metric part. We are the last holdouts against the metric standard.
Anyway, good luck.

Sorry about that fourstroke. I went to my .32 and checked the diameter with my calipers on the little stub of the bolt sticking through the nut. Maybe I didn't have reading glasses on. I agree; it should be very easy to find metric nuts in Taiwan.

How helpful is your local hobby shop?? When I needed parts for an OS engine or muffler, they would just take them off a new in box engine and then order the replacment parts for themselves. Have you asked them? If they say no, then maybe you have to whine and complain and make a big scene. It works for me!!

TimC - don't be silly. If there's something we learned in this hobby is that we can never have enough nuts and bolts! Anyway, these Hirobo lock nuts (with this extra metal blades instead of the normal teflon) is really cool. I will use them to mount my engine instead of the self tapping screws into nylon that came with the plane (BH Matrix 60). So no worries!
As for the markets in Taiwan. I will let you know if I can find a 3.5 mm nut. The funny thing here is that so many of the the nuts and bolts here are actually using inches!!! I may end up epoxying it instead!
