This is what happened at the field today, but nothing was gonna stop my from flying!!
First, the muffler came apart. Thats nothing, a couple quick ties and its like new. Then a peace of wood fell off. (the wondshield), a rubber band fixed that.
Hard landing, one side of the body got unglued. Whole bunch of rubber bands sealed the deal.
Then a deadstick, lost a carburator bolt so it was about to fall off. Quick ties!!!!!
Here is a picture.
How far have you gone just to stay to fly???

"bubbagates" I think you got the same plane as me on your profile- Goldberg Ultimate. Do you like it? I had a little crash on mine today. I am thinking about selling it.

Yep,
It's a CG Ultimate with a YS 110FZ using Wildcat YS 20/20 fuel and it's turning an APC 16x6 prop. Mods were done. On book low rates it's a great big p$$$$y cat to fly, go to high rates and man can it get wild. High rates are 45 degrees on the rudder and elevator and 35 on the ailerons. Lows are set to half of high rates
Pull-Pull on the rudder
Elevator servos moved to under the elevators
Tank is stock but right on the CG
Elevator and Rudder servos are HS-5645 digitals. HS-5245's in the wings with upgraded solid carbon fiber interlinks
Battery is a 2400Mah 4.8 with a digital monitor in the canopy and right on the CG under the fuel tank
This thing is a dream to fly, Honestly there is only one click of elevator trim in it. IMAC schedules are a dream to fly and basic 3D stuff is good. Does inverted flat spins on idle and very slowly loses altitude and any power it will start to climb. Normal flat spins are the same. It did have a bad pitch and roll coupling in Knife Edge but that is mixed out in the radio. Knife edge loops are possible with rudder management otherwise it will fall out at the top.
You ought to see it do a Lovemcak (spelling may be incorrect) It will kick the tail around about 4 times then hang on, it starts stalling on the wing tip and man does it get violent in a hurry. If you leave it go it will transition right into a knife edge spin but it will only recover if you go to idle and stop the spin with the rudder. Letting go of the sticks in this manuever is not an option, you must fly in out.
It did take me a little while to get used to orientation and since I added to avatar, I have added diagonal stripes to the tail and top wing, all pointing towards the engine.
I am just about done with a CG Sukhoi and it's getting a YS110FZ also, I hear thius thing flys well and all the normal Sukhoi bad tendencies have been engineered out.
Why are you thinking of selling yours?

I enjoy flying low wing 3D planes. I got a great does from a guy who quit the hobby and this plane was one of the items I got.
Just does not seem to be my flying style and it is expensive, which bugs me because i like to push the limits with my planes. So will most likely fix it, then sell it and buy something i like more instead.
Here is a link to a video of that crash- http://www.nakotne.com/download.php?view.24

vsus, your good!!! I have a different approach. I don't like trying to make quick field repairs so if I am going to my local field I bring 2 planes to the field. If something goes wrong with the first one, I just park it and start flying the other one. If I am going to another clubs fun fly that is farther away, I take at least 3 planes. That way I can be sure of having something to fly and not having wasted the trip for nothing.

We had 6 planes and a heli at the field, but it was the first time we had someone who was interested in flying so we put him on a buddy box. Did not want to scare him away, so we just kept flying.

1) bring a chair so I can relax more between flights, and
2) ignore the cell phone when it rings, cause I know it's my wife calling to tell me I've been at the field too long
Oh, and I also follow the bring at least 2 planes, and a second fully charged transmitter battery, philosophy.

I'll stay even if my life is in immediate danger. This spring a few of us packed up at the last second as twisters blew by, but didn't leave the field. We waited so long that the twister ended up blockling our escape route, so we had to wait it out. The insanely heavy rain and wind didn't bother me, but golf ball size hail hurts really bad. We were rewarded with perfect weather about 1 hour after the twister passed. Pic from our field.

Umm, looks kinda on the dark side to be flying my Stuka!! Weather looks more suited to my Neon Yellow Cloud Dancer!! Great Picture btw!

The plane was sitting arounf for over a year, i guess i should have better checked everything. Thats a good one bout the oil, haha
I love that plane, flies very nice and glides forever! I glued the wing straight instead of a V wing, which makes it more fun, but it still is a trainer.

Last weekend my father and I took 5 airplanes and both of us in my chevy silverado extendad cab short bed. Needless to say, it was crowded in the cab and the bed. While at the field it began to look like rain. We put up as quickly as we could so our planes would not get rained on on the way out. We packed them in the truck bed upside down just in case. Good thing because we got poured on leaving the field. Nothing got damaged, but, I'm now the proud owner of a new camper shell. Now I can transport planes not only in the dry, but without the 70 MPH wind sheer while going down the highway! That set me back about a grand.
How's that for how far will you go to stay at the field? I mean, we would have stayed longer and waited out the rain if we thought we wouldn't have gotten our planes rained on, I mean we thought we were beating the rain out...

What I won't do is rubber band together a broken structure which is foolish, dangerous, irresponsible and puts everyone at the field at risk if the thing takes to the air. Sorry, I can't get on the "that's dedication" bandwagon with this one.
Our hobby already has an image of being a bunch of yahoos which is why we can't find decent places to fly except out in mosquito infested swamp land.
Be responsible, pre-flight your planes before you leave home and again at the field and never ever put a questionable aircraft in the air.
